Hay Bahay Picture Book

Hay Bahay is your illustrated guide to household items in Tagalog! Authored by Dr. Jocelyn Francisco and illustrated by Jamie Lee Ortiz, Hay Bahay will teach you all the Filipino vocabulary you need to describe what’s in your home.

The title Hay Bahay is a play on words— hay buhay translates to “such is life!” and bahay translates to “house.”

Dr. Jocelyn is a first generation Filipina American who's passionate about preserving the Filipino language within Filipino American communities. Being bilingual has inspired her to create a children's book series, of which Hay Bahay is a part, that teaches children and adults basic Filipino in an effort to preserve the language. Also as a licensed clinical psychologist, she's passionate about helping the Filipinx community by providing a space where vulnerability, mental health, and healthy boundaries are normalized.
